Belier's Bite

We're going to need a ruling on Belier's Bite.  Kasim has it but has yet to use it.  It reads:

Your unarmed strikes cause your opponent to bleed.
Prerequisites: Improved Unarmed Strike.
Benefit: When you damage an opponent with an unarmed strike, you deal an extra 1d4 bleed damage.
Special: This ability does not stack with other special abilities, attacks, or items that allow you to deal bleed damage.

What exactly does this mean?  An extra d4 per hit?  Opponent gains the bleeding condition for d4 points every turn? d4x(hits) per turn?

  1. Bleed damage is usually a set amount of damage that happens on the damaged characters turn. It is usually determined by the number of sneak dice used during the inital damaging attack or a set amount. In this case the amount is determined at random. I would expect a d4 is rolled each round when the bleed damage would be taken. A damaged creature only suffers bleed once from a source. If you hit a target multiple times, they still only suffer the bleed damage once a round. In this case, the bleed damage would be 1d4.

  2. I'll be switching out Belier's Bite for Dragon Ferocity.
